PLANTING GUIDE

Crocus vernus

Perennial, Zones 3-9

Bulb Planting Depth: 3”

Height: 4-6

Spacing: 12 bulbs per square foot, 3-4" apart

Light Needs: Full sun to light shade

Soil Needs: Average to fertile, moist well-drained

Bloom Time: Early spring 

Uses: Flower beds, rock gardens, containers, cut flowers, wild gardens and naturalizing, under trees and shrubs, on the edges of woods or garden spaces, deer-resistant 

Care: Amend soil with compost before planting bulbs. Feed with a granular flower bulb fertilizer at planting time or in the spring when the leaves emerge. Cut back spent flowers and allow foliage to die back naturally before removing (4-6 weeks after flowering). They will produce small bulbs, “offsets” that can be divided from the main bulb and transplanted after a few growing seasons.
