Red Crown Imperial Fritillaria is a regal beauty with striking hanging clusters of orange-red flowers neatly tucked under its crown of spiky green foliage. It is an heirloom flower bulb dating back to 1665 and was prominently displayed in Victorian gardens. It will add a unique touch to your spring bulb gardens. Deer and rodent-resistant.

PLANTING GUIDE

Fritillaria imperialis 'Rubra'

Perennial, Zones 3-10

Bulb Planting Depth: 8”

Height: 36-40

Spacing: 1 bulb per square foot, 10-12” apart 

Light Needs: Full sun to light shade

Soil Needs: Organically rich soil, moist but well-drained

Bloom Time: Mid-spring 

Uses: Flower beds, borders, cut flowers, deer and rodent resistant. 

Care: Fritillaria prefers organically rich soil - amend the area with compost before planting. Feed with a granular flower bulb fertilizer at planting time or in the spring when the leaves emerge. Fritillaria does not like to be disturbed, once you have chosen its home it is recommended that you leave it where you plant it. Cut back spent flowers and allow foliage to die back naturally before removing it (4-6 weeks after flowering).
