Blue Podded Pea (Heirloom 80 Days)
The Blue Podded Pea is a Dutch Heirloom, also known as Blauwschokkers. An unusual edible and ornamental pea. The rare color of indigo-blue pods emerges from bi-colored purple and white flowers. Use the newly formed peas like you would a snow pea, and later dry them for a soup pea in wintertime meals. Grows to 5-6 feet.

Germination:Â 7-14 days
Germination Temperature: Blue Podded Pea optimum soil temperature is 50-75ºF. Planting in cooler soil results in slower germination.
Seed Sowing Depth:Â 1" deep
Sowing Outdoors- Early spring until the last frost date when the soil temperature reaches 50-75ºF. Sow 1-2" apart. Sow two months before the last frost date for smaller fall harvests.

Harvest- Pick every day for continuous harvest.
Tips- Adding inoculant with rhizobium bacteria will increase yields. Varieties with vine lengths over 3 feet require support.
