Wild Lupine Mix

Some of the more refined Lupines can be difficult to grow. Not this wild forbearer. Scatter the seeds around, and you will get a nice presentation. The color will be primarily shades of blue and purple, but occasionally you will get some spots with pink or white - mark them and save seed for more variety in your stand. An interesting planting that should last and expand for years. We tossed some in a roadside ditch and have been amazed at how well they are growing.

Perennial, Zones 4-7

Germination: 7-21 days

Germination Temperature: Optimum soil temperatures 55-65ºF

Seed Planting Depth: Sow ⅛”, soaking seeds for up to 24 hours aid the germination

Starting Indoors: Start indoors 6-8 weeks before the last frost. Provide 55-65ºF soil temperatures until germination. Sow into 3-4” sized containers or pots, seedlings do not like to be root bound. Using peat, cow, or paper pots can help with the stress of transplanting, they grow delicate roots and successful transplanting may be challenging. Transplant 24-30” apart after the last frost.
